Curated by Grizedale Arts
A cultural car crash of events including Mod culture, the re-enactment
of local petty crimes from the 1950s, a madrigal choir, an erotic dancer,
a 14ft stone xylophone, an isolated nuclear town, radio broadcasts, four
legendary funk stars and a working farm are brought together in Liverpool
for Virtual Grizedale. One of the main launch events for Liverpool's major
new contemporary art venue Greenland Street, At Afoundation's Blade Factory
and surrounding streets, Virtual Grizedale is the acting-out of a website,
drawing together work from all Grizedale Arts' current projects in Japan,
Egremont and Coniston in Cumbria, China and Liverpool itself.

All
these projects are linked in their ambition to make a constructive impact
on communities and suggest alternative approaches to regeneration. As
part of this eclectic mix, Thinking Space for the North presents new designs
for a farm interior: a bureau by Artist House and a panelling system by
Dan Robinson. Both are part of an interior scheme for a study space and
archive reflecting the farm's ongoing self-invention. Also displayed are
photographs taken by Polly Braden and other material from a 10-day public
opening during last year's Coniston Water Festival.
